Fast from pessimism; feast on optimism. Fast
from criticism; feast on praise. Fast from self-pity, feast on joy. Fast from bitterness; feast on forgiveness. Fast from idle gossip; feast on purposeful silence. Fast from jealousy; feast on love. Fast from discouragement; feast on hope. Fast from complaining; feast on appreciation. Fast from selfishness; feast on service. Fast from Fear; feast on faith. Fast from anger; feast on patience. Orientation for Newly Appointed Heads of School...
Beginning this August 2006, SAES is pleased to announce a three-session
symposium for Heads of School newly appointed to Episcopal schools. The event
includes a two-day long meetings for administrators, one in August and one in
the Spring, for comprehensive information sessions and informative exchanges
with fellow colleagues. The third meeting will be personalized with a mid-year
visit by an SAES representative to each new Head's campus.
For those new to administration, this symposium
offers detailed information clarifying the unique responsibilities of managing
the complexities of a school. For those coming from other independent schools,
it will introduce the integration of Episcopal identity into the administrative
functions of developing a school. For those coming from a public school
administrative background, it will introduce the nuances of private schools and
the essential elements of Episcopal character in our schools. More Details

Updated Standards and Accreditation Requirements for Accredited Schools...
SAES recently updated its Standards and parts of its
Accreditation process. In addition to other changes, the Standards now clarify
the relationship between the Board and the Head of School in order to effect a
more constructive relationship between these key participants in school
leadership. The
SAES Accreditation Handbook also has been updated and includes
information on the new reporting system for accredited schools. Beginning in the
fall 2006, a school's Five Year Report will focus on the instructional qualities
of the school. A seven year Report, due seven years after the last On-Site
Visit, will focus on governance issues and compliance with Standards of the
Association. Schools completing an On-Site Visit will be asked to report on the
status of those Recommendations in a Three Year Report.
The complete list of
updated Standards and the SAES 2006 Accreditation Handbook can be found
on our website at
www.swaes.org.
