Curriculum

The children at St. Matthew's learn through experimentation with a wide variety of materials and through directed instruction by the teacher. Concepts are taught through a thematic approach with topics taken primarily from science and social studies. Language development and math concepts are included in every area of the program. Outdoor play, rhythm activities and movement are also important parts of our curriculum. All classes are offered 9:00 am to noon with the exception of kindergarten which lets out at 1:30pm.

Children in the classroom

Helping each child reach their full potential is at the heart of our St. Matthew's curriculum. Teachers recognize that every academic year bring a new challenge and level of learning styles and ability within their classrooms. Our low teacher/student ratio is credited with the success of our teachers meeting each child at their development level, interests, and learning styles.

Pre-School Programs

Kindergarten Program

Motor Skills: The students of St. Matthew's join Sandra Torres in rhythm & movement classes, which are geared toward strengthening the child's gross motor skills and coordination. Mrs. Torres incorporates fun and games as children walk on balance beams, dance, and hop on colored circles on the floor.

Music: The children at St. Matthew's go to music class with Shannon Magee. Children learn new songs and rhythms and have lots of fun!
