Bill GordhBill Gordh is in his 21st year at The Episcopal School in New York. He serves at the Director of Expressive Arts and the Chapel Program and is also an Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology at General Theological Seminary. He performed at the White House Easter Egg Roll in 1998, 1999, and 2000. Over the last four years he has worked with over 800 students a year as he teaches storytelling to those leading age groups of pre-k-3rd grade and is also an Adjunct Professor of the Manhattanville College School of Education Summer Arts Institute. Bill is a self-described storyteller/educator/musician/consultant and has been helping children learn to listen for years. You are in for a treat as he leads us through folktales, the art of storytelling and follows that with how to capture children with Chapel programs designed for them. Be ready to be charmed and bring your singing voice along. He’s brining his banjo!
Carol Katrana Carol is known for her hands-on approach in creating fun, early learning environments and parents of young children have looked to her for guidance as they navigate the world of parenting. She now teaches 6-week, 15 hour workshops to parents of early learners covering brain development, the power of reading, learning styles, personalities, positive discipline and teaching kindness to children. She will be the keynote speaker for the Presbyterian Conference, Houston, in August 2008. Carol spent 20 years in the world of early childhood as a teacher and administrator. She is known for her hands-on approach in creating fun, early learning environments and parents of young children have looked to her for guidance as they navigate the world of parenting. She no teaches 6-week, 15 hour workshops to parents of early learners covering brain development, the power of reading, learning styles, personalities, positive discipline and teaching kindness to children.
Lauren Burrow She is entering her second year as an independent drama instructor for early elementary-aged students, where she adapts classical literature for children’s productions. The Masters await your masterful touch as Lauren teaches you how to make your own classroom books. You will be making a book from her presentation as she takes you through the alphabet with one famous artist at a time and shows you how to excite your children’s interest in art as they learn about artists from Michelangelo to Picasso.
Judy Matthews Be Amazing! Mix science and Literature. Learn how to excite your students with hands on experiments that tie into books you use in the classroom. Want to hear “Wow! Come here! Look what I did?” Judy will show you just how to make that happen and you may find yourself saying “That’s amazing!”
Mauri Oliver Currently, Mauri is the owner and President of AC&L Inc. and provides comprehensive assessment and treatment of speech, language & learning delays. She specializes in language-based learning disabilities and implements school based speech and language screening programs. Mauri will focus on identifying and understanding the benchmarks of Speech and Language Development including indictors of speech delays. If you have children who have little to no communication skills and are wondering what you are “not hearing”, this workshop will help you understand what children need to be doing and how to identify “red flags”.
